Tom the Hobo

“Where every traveler finds a friend”
Tom the Hobo was no ordinary wanderer. Driven by dreams and a free spirit, he roamed the country, exploring every corner of America. For Tom, the journey itself was his joy, with each new person and place adding to his story.
Yet, despite his love for the open road, Tom always felt something was missing—a true home. His search led him from town to town until he reached Ashford, Alabama. There, Tom finally found a place and community that made him feel he belonged.
Inspired by Ashford’s welcoming spirit, Tom decided to settle down and build something lasting. He founded what would become Home Oil Company, creating a legacy that continues to thrive.
Though now a successful businessman, Tom remained a hobo at heart, sharing tales of his travels and reminding others of the beauty of adventure and belonging. His legacy lives on through Hobo Pantry and Home Oil Company, celebrating community, resilience, and the feeling of finding one’s true home.
So, as you walk into one of our stores, remember Tom the Hobo—the man who journeyed far and wide only to find that home was always waiting for him.
